A Vigil in Memory of Deandre Matthews

“The way he left this world was personal,” Danielle Matthews, mother of DeAndre Matthews told reporters. “It was intentional.”
In collaboration with the family of Deandre Matthews and our community partners ALP, Equality for Flatbush, CAMBA, Brooklyn Pride Center and Brooklyn Movement Center, AVP will be holding a vigil in memory of Deandre Matthews, a 19-year-old black, gay man who was brutally killed in Brooklyn, NY in early February. DeAndre was last seen on February 6, 2023 and was found shot and burned on freight tracks in Flatbush, BK.
AVP is amplifying the wishes of the Matthews family calling for an investigation into the death of #DeandreMatthews. Join our community for a vigil for DeAndre this Thursday, February 16, 2023, at 6 PM at Restoration Plaza, 1368 Fulton Street, in Brooklyn NY.
