40th Kickoff Event

January 23, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The New York City Anti-Violence Project cordially invites you to

Protest, Policy, & Prevention

AVP was founded 40 years ago by community activists when the police and city officials refused to respond to a series of brutal attacks against our LGBTQ community. Survivors and their allies took to the streets to advocate for themselves. Hear from AVP’s founders who built the foundation of our work today, and from anti-violence leaders on new strategies for hate violence prevention in our current sociopolitical climate.

As part of AVP’s 40th Anniversary, we are launching Courageous Conversations: an Anti-Violence Discussion Series. AVP will be hosting a series of forums about the current and emerging realities, practices, and policies that are shaping anti-violence work now and into the future. We will bring together key experts, survivors, advocates, and visionaries to help us create our vision of a world in which all LGBTQ and HIV-affected people are safe, respected and live free from violence. Join us.
