The New York City Anti-Violence Project (AVP) is an organization that works to address and end all forms of violence that impact LGBTQ and HIV-affected people. We support survivors of violence through our free 24/7 bilingual hotline, counseling, advocacy, and legal services and work towards a violence-free tomorrow through organizing, policy change, and education. I have had the honor and privilege of working as AVP’s Executive Director for over six years, and I am deeply grateful to the passionate staff and volunteers who bring the organization’s mission to life, and to all of you who have support the work of AVP and my leadership.
Every year, AVP answers calls from over 2,000 queer survivors of violence, providing them with critical crisis intervention and connecting them to lifesaving services. But we don’t stop there. As violence against and in the LGBTQ community continues to rise and as those who want to deny us our dignity and rights become emboldened, we are bringing together survivors and allies to change policies and create new models for how we can keep ourselves and each other safe. I am inspired every day by the way our team and community are boldly defining and demanding a safer world for all of us.
Join me in reaching my goal of raising $5,000 for AVP in 2022.
