NCAVP mourns the death of 20-year-old Alexus Keith, a Black queer woman in Denver, Colorado, the second homicide linked to intimate partner violence in 2019. According to media reports, Alexus died in April after being shot by her ex-girlfriend, Paulette Beazhane, who is 21-years-old. Paulette has been charged with Alexus’ murder.
NCAVP’s latest report, issued earlier this week, Hate Violence and Intimate Partner Violence in LGBTQ and HIV-affected Communities in 2017 highlights LGBTQ people’s risk for severe and fatal intimate partner violence, as well as hate violence.
