With AVP
This year, AVP staff and volunteers have steadily been providing services through leadership transitions and uncertainty. In fact, we responded to a 20% increase in crisis calls from LGBTQ+ community members on our 24/7 hotline. We know LGBTQ+ survivors need AVP, and AVP needs to be strong and well-resourced to meet those needs. That’s where you come in. Donate today to support AVP’s free, trauma-informed, queer-led programs and services.
My name is Audacia Ray, and I am the interim Executive Director for AVP. I’ve been at AVP for 7 years, and have been involved in communications, activism and advocacy work for more than two decades. I’m also a survivor of violence, a former sex worker, and a bisexual nonbinary person. Like you, I am AVP. And I am thankful for the opportunity to serve our communities and ensure that our services and advocacy are always available. Now, I’m asking you for your support to help AVP thrive and continue to serve LGBTQ+ and HIV-affected survivors on their healing journey.

AVP's Community Safety Training was so beneficial to our LGBTQ+ community center in Michigan. It was wonderful to learn from the staff at AVP as well as other folks around the country. We're taking away so many tools and strategies that will help us continue to keep marginalized folks safe from threats and harassment."

Our legal staff argued and advocated on behalf of a Senegalese client seeking asylum in the U.S., holding that a recent uprising in LGBTQ criminalization in Senegal merited an exception to the one-year filing deadline, and helped overcome other obstacles to successfully argue for asylum for the client."
- Leslie Allen, AVP's Director of Legal Services
